Founded in 2006, the Jodhpur Network of People Living with HIV Sansthan (JNP Plus) began not as a traditional nonprofit organization, but as a survival mechanism. It was born from a fundamental need: when society closes its doors to you because of an illness, you must build your own doors.
Over the last two decades, JNP Plus has evolved from a small support group in Jodhpur into a registered, highly awarded organization serving the entire Rajasthan region. Today, it stands as a testament to what is possible when people who face systemic discrimination are given the resources, platform, and community they need to advocate for their own rights.

JNP Plus — the Jodhpur Network of People facing chronic illness Sansthan — was founded by Mr. Dinesh Joshi, a man of deep humanity who chose to stand for those who had been turned away by the world. His was a noble cause — not born of obligation, but of genuine care for human dignity. He built JNP Plus from the ground up, rooted in community trust, with one unwavering mission: that no person facing chronic illness in Jodhpur should ever face this journey alone.
From its earliest days, JNP Plus has operated on a principle that few organizations truly embody: that people facing chronic illness are not victims to be pitied, but rights-holders to be empowered. The organization fights for access to treatment, stands against discrimination, and creates the community infrastructure that allows people to live full, dignified lives.
Our Journey — Year by Year
The Founding — One Vision, One Mission
JNP Plus is established by Mr. Dinesh Joshi in Jodhpur, registered under the Rajasthan Society Registration Act 1958. What began as one man's conviction that humanity demands more of us grew into a full-fledged organization — dedicated to securing medicines, healthcare, legal rights, and dignity for people facing chronic illness across the Jodhpur district. The early days were modest in resources but limitless in purpose.
Building the Community Base
Early years are spent registering members, building trust, and establishing the organization's credibility with government bodies and healthcare systems. JNP Plus begins its first outreach programs — connecting community members with ART centres, providing counselling, and fighting workplace and social discrimination. Hundreds of families receive support for the first time.
Bal Basera Opens Its Doors
August 2010 marks a landmark moment. JNP Plus opens Bal Basera — a registered Child Care Home under the Juvenile Justice Act — to provide shelter, education, medical care, and love to children orphaned or made vulnerable by serious illness. The home begins with a handful of children and grows to become home to 80 children who would otherwise have no safe place to go.
National & International Recognition
FCRA 2011 certification is obtained, enabling JNP Plus to receive international donations and partnerships. Registrations under the Rajasthan Public Trust Act and Income Tax 12AA & 80G certifications are secured. JNP Plus becomes one of Rajasthan's most credentialed nonprofit organizations. International partners begin to take notice.
The Global Fund Partnership
JNP Plus is selected as a partner for the Global Fund's program in Rajasthan — one of the most significant healthcare funding bodies in the world. The Care & Support Center (CSC) is established, providing holistic support to community members with a focus on treatment adherence, pregnant women, and infants. Over these years, thousands of patients receive free, dignified healthcare.
Community Health Care Center Launches
A dedicated 10-bed health care center is established, providing free inpatient and outpatient services to 175 children and 240 women facing chronic illness. The center is staffed with trained physicians, nurses, and community health workers — all committed to treating every patient with respect and dignity. Simultaneously, Bal Basera expands its capacity and its programs for education, vocational training, and societal reintegration.
20 Years of Proven Impact
Twenty years after a small group of community members stood up in Jodhpur, JNP Plus now serves 6,000+ registered members, cares for 80 children in Bal Basera, runs three active programs, holds multiple prestigious national awards, and continues to grow. The fight is not over — but the foundation is unshakeable.
What We Believe
JNP Plus was built on core convictions that have never changed in 20 years:
✊ Dignity is non-negotiable. Every person facing chronic illness has the right to healthcare, community, and a life free from shame and discrimination — regardless of their economic status, gender, or background.
🏘️ Community is the cure for stigma. The deepest harm of HIV is not biological but social. Isolation, fear, and discrimination cause as much suffering as the virus itself. We fight this by building a community where no one walks alone.
🧸 Children deserve a future. No child should pay the price of a parent's illness. Bal Basera exists to ensure that every child in our care has the same chance at education, health, and happiness as any other child in Rajasthan.
